Tragedy in Tumbler Ridge: School Shooting Leaves Ten Dead
A shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, Canada, has resulted in ten fatalities, including the shooter, according to reports from the Associated Press.
The incident unfolded overnight, local time. Several individuals were similarly injured, with updates provided by CBC.
Six of the deceased were found at the school itself. One death occurred en route to a hospital. Two additional fatalities were discovered at a residence in the area, linked to the school shooting. The breakdown of adults and children among the victims remains unclear.
Police identified the shooter as a woman who died by suicide at the school, as stated by Police Chief Ken Floyd during a press conference.
Approximately 25 people are currently under medical evaluation, with two individuals transported to hospitals with life-threatening or serious injuries.

Community Under Lockdown
Residents of Tumbler Ridge, a town with around 2400 inhabitants, have been advised to remain indoors.
Both Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and the local elementary school are under “lockdown” protocols, according to the school district.
Larry Neufeld, a representative for the area, confirmed that significant resources have been deployed to the scene.
“We understand some people are out looking for loved ones, but please return to your homes and stay inside,” Neufeld stated to the press.
Tumbler Ridge Secondary School serves 175 students from grades 7 through 12.
The situation is currently classified as an “active shooter” event, and police continue to investigate.
