Capcom launched its Tokyo Game Show 2026 coverage with a 40-minute Capcom Spotlight
broadcast on September 16, detailing new release dates, gameplay mechanics, and a significant push for the Nintendo Switch 2. The presentation featured updates across several major franchises, including Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Dragon’s Dogma, and Resident Evil.
Mega Man: Dual Override and PRAGMATA Crossover
Director Shinya Ikuta and producer Hiroyuki Minamitani provided a deep dive into Mega Man: Dual Override, confirming that Proto Man will serve as a second playable protagonist. While Mega Man focuses on ranged combat, Proto Man utilizes shield-based actions and close-range attacks. The game introduces a Custom Chip System featuring over 50 active and passive chips, a three-area stage structure, and a high-risk “Override” limiter state. Mega Man: Dual Override is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Additionally, Capcom released a free “Mega Man Pack” DLC for PRAGMATA. This crossover provides Mega Man and Roll-themed outfits for the protagonists Hugh and Diana, as well as new background music and gestures. PRAGMATA is currently available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and was offered at a limited-time 20% discount following the broadcast.
Nintendo Switch 2 Expansion and Resident Evil Ports
Capcom is aggressively expanding its library on the Nintendo Switch 2. The company confirmed that Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will launch natively on the platform on October 16, 2026. These titles join Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem, which are already available on the hardware.
Other major titles coming to the Switch 2 include:
- Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen: Launches October 9, 2026, as a bundled base game and expansion package priced at $49.99.
- Monster Hunter Wilds: The base game is scheduled for release on the Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.
Expansion Details for Monster Hunter and Dragon’s Dogma
The Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion will feature the return of the Elder Dragon Teostra and a new Elder Dragon capable of controlling storms. The update introduces Boost mechanics for all 14 weapon types and quality-of-life improvements for both the expansion and base game, such as Item Box equipment changes outside the tent and faster weapon swapping that does not require mounting a Seikret.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will release on October 9, 2026. Existing owners on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 can purchase the expansion separately for $29.99. The content is set in the frozen region of Norgan and includes 12 Lost Rites endgame dungeons, a relic-focused progression system, and new character customization options. Players will join a character named Eir to investigate a heartless Fallen Dragon.
Street Fighter 6 Year 4 Updates
Capcom revealed that Arjun, the second DLC fighter for Street Fighter 6 Year 4, will arrive on October 13, 2026. Arjun utilizes traps, recoverable damage, and Martial Yoga breathing techniques. The update will also include Outfit 4 for C. Viper. Capcom further teased that Bosch and Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy are the remaining characters planned for Year 4.
TGS 2026 Booth and Demos
At the physical TGS 2026 booth, Capcom is offering several hands-on experiences. Visitors can play the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds through multiplayer-only demos featuring quests such as Lord of the Ocean
(targeting Lagiacrus) and Hunter and Hunted, A Fiery Tail
(targeting Quematrice). Other playable demos include Onimusha: Way of the Sword in a Training Hall setting and 2-player versus battles for Street Fighter 6 featuring Arjun on PlayStation 5 consoles.
