Title: Sunseekers Choose Gran Canaria for Winter Holidays, Despite Early Bookings and Virus Concerns
Sub heading: As Christmas nears, many Norwegians escape the winter chill for warmer climes, with Gran Canaria leading the pack.
Article:
Christmas may evoke images of dark winter evenings and indoor activities, but many Norwegians are swapping snow for sand, with Gran Canaria emerging as the hotspot for winter holidays.
Our previous article highlighted Gran Canaria’s popularity among charter flight operators. The trend continues, with December trips almost sold out, according to TUI. Nine out of ten seats have been booked well in advance, predominately for islands like Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Lanzarote.
However, last-minute sunseekers need not worry, as there are still options available for those willing to travel by scheduled flights. TUI reports a 30% increase in bookings this week compared to last, showcasing the growing demand for winter getaways.
Travel tip for full flights:
Annabelle Bruun, Dagbladet’s travel expert, urges caution when preparing for your journey. She advises passengers traveling on crowded flights to show considerate behavior. "Be kind to each other," she stresses.
A recent Kantar Media survey conducted on behalf of TUI revealed what irks passengers most during flights. Topping the list was delayed departures, closely followed by passengers reclining seats too early or encroaching on others’ space. Those sensitive to noise are advised to invest in noise-canceling headphones.
Top 10 flight irritants:
- Delays
- Passengers reclining seats back too early
- Rowdy passengers
- Children screaming or misbehaving
- Passengers blocking aisles when retrieving baggage
- Passengers spilling over into neighboring seats
- Boisterous fellow passengers
- Passengers clapping upon landing
- Passengers getting up before the ‘fasten seatbelt’ sign is switched off
- No irritation, as I don’t mind flying
Plan ahead for next year:
This year’s Christmas holiday is fortunate, with strategically placed public holidays. Booking early was the key to securing desirable destinations, particularly popular long-haul trips like Thailand and for travelers from Northern Norway.
TUI’s Anne Mørk-Løwengreen advises that those with specific wishes should start planning now for next year’s holidays. She observes, "We see that holidays bring joy. Many book their next trip as soon as they return home."
