Headline: Indonesian Philanthropist Diverts Ailing Man’s Donations to Disaster Victims, Sparking Outcry

In a unexpected turn of events, Java-based philanthropist Pratiwi Noviyanthi (Novi), along with other key figures like Jerry Julian and Denny Sumargo, has decided to redirect donations originally intended for Agus Salim’s eye surgery to assist victims of the recent volcanic eruption in Lewotobi, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). However, this decision has been met with strong opposition from Agus Salim’s lawyer, Farhat Abbas.

The decision, revealed on Denny Sumargo’s YouTube channel, aims to provide immediate relief to those affected by the disaster. "We plan to take the donations there (to Lewotobi), exactly," confirmed Jerry Julian.

However, Farhat Abbas has labeled this move as a "flight from responsibility" and an attempt to manipulate public opinion. According to him, the funds are solely the property of Agus Salim and should not have been redirected without his consent. Abbas also accused Novi of acting unilaterally and without consideration for the consequences of her actions.

Abbas further crucified the decision as a ploy to shift attention from the core issue, stating that the initial donations were meant to be used for Agus Salim’s medical expenses, not for disaster relief. He expressed his confusion and disappointment about the situation, feeling that Novi’s actions were not respectful or honoring to the Minister of Social Affairs.

Meanwhile, Novi and her team have not yet responded publicly to Abbas’ allegations. The situation remains complex, with the focus potentially shifting from Agus Salim’s medical needs to the grave consequences of natural disasters in Indonesia.

This sudden change in the use of donations has sparked a national conversation about responsibility, transparency, and the legitimate use of charitable funds. As more details emerge, we will continue to monitor and report on this developing story.
