Diagnosed at age 20 with IgA Nephropathy and Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), Swaine has lived with severe kidney disease for over thirty years. In March, he was removed from the list after his mandatory dental clearance expired and further procedures were required. Transplant protocols require strict dental clearance to minimize post-surgical infection risks. Because his illness prevents him from working, meeting the cost of the necessary dental work proved financially impossible.
Community Support and Upcoming Fundraising Events
Friends including Karen Ennis, Kevin Ennis, Mary Farrell, and Jeremy Farrell stepped in with permission from Swaine and his partner, Carmel Day, to launch a GoFundMe campaign targeting €7,000.
