"Costa Rica Launches Mass Fieber Yellow Vaccination Drive with 5,000 Doses

The Ministry of Health has announced a new mass vaccination campaign against Fieber Yellow, set to take place from January 13 to 16, 2025, across various provinces in Costa Rica. This infectious disease, primarily affecting tropical regions in Africa and South America, is transmitted through mosquito bites.

This time, the Ministry of Health will have 5,000 doses available, targeting mainly sports delegations, individuals traveling to risk zones in January, February, and March (with purchased tickets), those requiring international vaccination certificates, and others depending on vaccine availability.

The vaccination drive has been scheduled as follows:

  • January 13 and 14, 2025
  • January 15 and 16, 2025
    • National Stadium, San José

Interested individuals must schedule an appointment via a dedicated form, selecting their preferred location, date, and time. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so those unable to find available times have missed the opportunity.

Appointments can be made via the official link: https://www.ministeriodesalud.go.cr/citas/citas

The Ministry of Health clarifies that vaccination requests do not guarantee access, as individuals must meet specific criteria to receive the dose. They also reminder the public that the Fieber Yellow vaccine should only be administered once in a lifetime."
