Covid-19 disease is registered in Latvia for five people – in Jurmala, Riga and Olaine region

Last day, 2717 Covid-19 tests were performed in Latvia and five new cases of the disease were registered, Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).

The information available to the SPKC shows that one patient is a contact person, but four patients are infected abroad – in Ukraine and Russia.

No patients with Covid-19 have been hospitalized in the last day, a total of 10 patients are being treated in hospitals, all with moderate disease.

A total of 211 patients were discharged from the hospital.

A total of 282,835 examinations were performed in Latvia, 1,482 persons became ill and 1,248 recovered, 35 died.

Of the five new infections discovered last day, three were registered in Jurmala, but one each in Riga and Olaine region, according to data compiled by the SPKC.

Thus, currently 57 patients with Covid-19 are registered in Riga, 11 in Olaine region, and ten in Jūrmala.

Two of the new infections are between the ages of 20 and 29, two between the ages of 30 and 39, and one between the ages of 60 and 69.

It has already been reported that an emergency situation was declared throughout Latvia in connection with the spread of Covid-19 on March 12, which ended on June 9.

World Health Organization (WHO) named the new coronavirus disease. It is called Covid-19. The name is made up of the words “corona”, “virus” and “disease”. The number 19, in turn, indicates the year in which the outbreak of the virus began. The first reports of the virus outbreak appeared on December 31 last year.
