Breaking News: Secret Cattle Slaughterhouse Busted in Coronel Suárez
Authorities from the Comando de Prevención Rural of Coronel Suárez have dismantled an illegal cattle slaughterhouse in the town, following a raid that led to the seizure of tools and two cows, each weighing approximately 120 kilos. The operation also resulted in the confiscation of a Toyota Hilux pickup, which played a pivotal role in the investigation. Forensic tests using luminol revealed traces of blood on the vehicle.
The probe, initiated on July 31, 2024, following a televised complaint, culminated in judicial proceedings after a local producer and merchant pointed to irregular meat sales and questioned their safety and the lack of health inspections. Supported by local municipalities, provincial and national agencies, and the local monitoring center, investigators participated in the raid at the clandestine plant situated at the intersection of Juramento and Tucumán streets.
Subsequently, three butcher shops in Coronel Suárez, Colonia Santa Trinidad, and Colonia San José were inspected to ascertain any links to the illicit meat distribution. Additionally, during the operation, officers secured a significant amount of evidence and tools related to the illegal activities.
Investigators warn that this crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle a clandestine network responsible for illegal cattle slaughter practices, and the case remains open pending additional developments.
