17-Year-Old CSKA footballer Anton Tolev survives New Year’s stabbing miracle in Dragovishtitsa
In a miraculous turn of events, 17-year-old footballer Anton Tolev of CSKA is fighting for his life after being stabbed twice in the chest during a New Year’s Eve argument with a driver in the village of Dragovishtitsa. He was rushed to the "Pirogov" hospital in the early hours of January 1st, where he remains in critical condition.
Tolev, now stabilized and able to speak, recalls the horrific incident. He insists he hadn’t argued with the man prior to the attack. "I think he wasn’t just drunk, but also under the influence of drugs," Tolev told Nova TV.
"We were celebrating New Year’s with friends. It was time to go home. We saw a car driving straight at us. We stepped aside just in time, otherwise, we might not be here today. We made a remark, as any normal person would," Tolev recounted.
The driver slammed on the brakes, but the situation escalated quickly. "He pulled out a knife, and it took me a few seconds to realize what was happening. The knife wasn’t visible," Tolev recalled.
After the attack, the man got back into his car and drove off. Tolev’s friends witnessed the assault. "He was driving at around 100 km/h. This isn’t the first time he’s done this," one friend, Georgi, said.
Another witness, Deyan, reported, "When I got there, I saw the car driving off, and Anton was on the ground with his jacket off, bleeding."
Dragovishtitsa Mayor Eugeny Kiryov revealed that the 37-year-old suspect, Dimitrich Alexiev, is notorious for his aggressive behavior. "He’s from Kostinbrod, has lived here for a year and a half. As far as I know, he’s served time for a similar crime before. The next incident could have fatal consequences," Kiryov warned. According to him, Alexiev does not have a driving license.
Police found Alexiev at his home, where they also discovered cannabis and cocaine.
