Culiacán Homicide: Man Identified After Being Found Wrapped in a Blanket on La Costerita

Culiacán, Sinaloa – The identity of the man found dead and wrapped in a green blanket on Benito Juárez La Costerita has been revealed as Juan Carlos N., a 49-year-old resident of the Las Vegas neighborhood. The grim discovery was made on Monday, December 23, around 1:00 PM, on the eastbound side of the highway, near the luxurious La Primavera residential complex.

Juan Carlos was last seen alive on December 17 when he was reportedly abducted by armed civilians at the local Abastos Market. His Family spent over a week frantically searching for him before the tragic discovery on Monday.

Upon receiving the emergency call, both state and municipal police rushed to the scene. Once they confirmed it was a human body, they swiftly secured the area. The Directorate of Criminal Investigation carried out the necessary fieldwork and collected evidence. Investigators diligently pursued leads to piecing together the tragic events.

After conducting an autopsy at the local Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), Juan Carlos’ body was released to his family, who plan to bury him in a private ceremony.

In recent weeks, Sinaloa has seen an alarming rise in violent incidents, including abductions, leaving residents on edge. Friends and family members of the victim are demanding justice and urge authorities to make every effort in finding those responsible. Juan Carlos N.’s murder and its connection to previous abduction cases remain under active investigation.
