Rotterdam police investigating man’s death after suspected hit-and-run, potential homicide

Rotterdam police are investigating the death of a man who was found severely injured on a cycling path on Tuesday evening. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. According to police, there is a strong possibility that the man was the victim of a hit-and-run incident, and that foul play may have been involved.

Witnesses reported seeing a man lying on the ground near the corner of the Roelantpad and Karel Doormanstraat around 6:30 PM. Paramedics were called, and the victim was transported to the Erasmus Medical Center in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, the man did not survive his injuries.

Investigators found no immediate evidence of an accident in the area, leading police to believe that theinjuries may have been caused by a deliberate act. This assumption is further supported by the fact that no vehicle was found at the scene that could have been involved in a hit-and-run.

The victim was reportedly without a bike or any personal belongings when he was discovered. The police are now appealing to the public for any information related to the incident. Investigators are particularly interested in any witnesses who may have seen something suspicious or who might have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.

In addition, detectives are looking into the victim’s personal background and associations to help determine if anyone may have had a motive to harm him.

This is a developing story, and more updates will be provided as they become available. The police have asked anyone with information to come forward and contact the police hotline at 0900-8844 or online at www.politie.nl.
