Cyclist in 1980s Dies Following Car Collision; Young Driver Charged

A male cyclist tragically lost his life following a road accident on Norwegian Route 15 in Reknesvika, Stad. The incident occurred at 6:48 PM, and despite receiving immediate first aid, the cyclist’s life could not be saved.

Authorities confirmed the death of the cyclist, and the next of kin have been notified, according to operations leader Stein Rune Øyjordsbakken Halleraker of the Vest police district.

The driver of the vehicle involved, a young man, has had his driving license confiscated and is now facing charges of manslaughter through negligence. This was disclosed to Bergens Tidende by police prosecutor Andreas Foxen Haldorsen. While blood tests have been conducted as routine procedure, there is no current suspicion of alcohol or drug impairment.

The police first reported the accident at 4:11 PM on Friday afternoon.
