The climber was struck by falling rocks in a hazardous, rocky section of the trail between the Tête Rousse and Goûter refuges, an area frequently referred to as the death corridor due to frequent rockfalls.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Adam Čörgő confirmed the tragedy, stating that consular assistance is being provided to the family of the deceased. “We can confirm the tragic death of a Czech citizen during the ascent of Mont Blanc. Our colleagues on the ground are providing consular assistance to the relatives of the deceased and are in contact with them. We express our sincere condolences to all loved ones,” Čörgő said.

Rescue services were initially unable to dispatch the Choucas 74 helicopter from Chamonix due to adverse weather conditions. Despite the intervention, rescuers could not save the climber, and his companion was airlifted to the base of the mountain.
