Kevin Ignatius O’Connell, a resident of Main Street, Ballyheigue, Tralee, Co. Kerry, has passed away.
Mr. O’Connell, who was formerly of Clahanleish, Ballyheigue, passed away in the care of the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital Kerry (U.H.K.).
Community and Family Tributes
The passing of Mr. O’Connell leaves behind a large family, including his brother Fintan, sister-in-law Bridget, and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He is also remembered by his neighbors and many friends from the Ballyheigue area and beyond.
Mr. O’Connell was predeceased by his parents, Patrick Vincent and Mary Ann, as well as his brothers Chris, Mikey-Joe, Cyril, and Vinny, and his sisters Esther and Patricia.
The family has expressed their gratitude to the medical professionals who provided care. Special thanks were extended to Dr. Patricia Sheehan, Dr. Noreen O’ Shea, and the entire Palliative care team at U.H.K.
Funeral Arrangements and Memorials
Funeral services have been scheduled for the coming days. Reposing will take place at Hartnetts Funeral Home in Ballyheigue on Tuesday, May 26th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A requiem mass is set to be held at St. Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue, on Wednesday, May 27th, at 11:00 am. Following the service, burial is expected to take place at Kyrie Eleison Cemetery in Abbeydorney.
In honor of Mr. O’Connell, the family has requested that, instead of flowers, donations be made to the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital Kerry if desired.
