Ukraine Rebuffs Russian Landing Attempt on Dnipro Island; Inflicts Casualties
In a setback for Russian forces, Ukraine’s defense units have successfully repelled an attempt by Russian invaders to land on Kunan (Kazatsky) Island in the Dnipro River, located in the Kherson region. The unsuccessful assault resulted in Russian losses, according to Ukrainian officials.
"Our forces have foiled the enemy’s attempt to land on Kunan Island," confirmed Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s southern defensive forces, during a national telethon. "The enemy incurred losses, mainly in their watercraft, but also in personnel, and was unable to achieve their landing objectives."
Voloshyn further noted that Russian forces continued their assaults and shelling along the Pridneprovske and Kherson directions, with several intense skirmishes occurring along the Vremivske front. Russian tactics involved small groups of infantry supported by tanks, artillery, aircraft, and drones.
In addition to ongoing offensive efforts, Russia has been actively conducting aerial and engineering reconnaissance along the Orekhove and Huliaipole fronts, preparing for future assaults and strikes on civilian infrastructure and populated areas near the contact line.
The relentless Ukrainian resistance has taken a toll on Russian forces. According to Voloshyn, Ukrainian defenders neutralized approximately 150 Russian soldiers, several pieces of military hardware, and tanks during the past 24 hours.
As the conflict continues, Ukrainian forces remain steadfast in their defensive posture, successfully countering Russian advances and inflicting significant losses on the invading army. The bravery and determination displayed by Ukrainian defenders serve as a testament to the nation’s unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
