Dobrich Mayor Involved in Late-Night Crash; Alcohol Rumors Surface

In a late-night incident on Saturday, Dobrich Mayor Yordan Yordanov was reportedly involved in a single-vehicle crash on the Varna-Dobrich highway. Unofficial reports suggest that alcohol may have played a factor, with some social media sources stating a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.75 promils. Yordanov and another woman were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Despite the incident’s absence from the daily MVM report released to media outlets, Dobrich Regional Police Directorate Director Krasen Torimacov confirmed it had occurred near the Stefanovo junction. He cited slippery road conditions due to frost as the cause.

A drugs test on Yordanov proved negative. However, he underwent a blood test, the results of which are pending. Torimacov noted, "We’re awaiting the blood test results for concrete information."

There were no serious injuries reported. Both occupants were treated and released. The mayor was unharmed, according to Torimacov.

This incident coincides with a surge in road accidents due to adverse weather conditions, the director commented.

The investigation continues, with Police withholding further comment until the blood test results are official.
