Drenthe Farmers Feature on Popular Dutch Calendar

Hugo Boerland (22) from Koekange will appear in the 2027 Boeren Kalender, showcasing a polished side of modern agriculture that challenges traditional stereotypes about farming life, rtvdrenthe.nl reported.

Koekange Farmer Debuts on 2027 Calendar

The 22-year-old farmer aims to prove that agricultural workers do not spend all day in muddy overalls. “We can certainly look neat and farm life is not always dirty and messy,” Boerland told rtvdrenthe.nl. “That image may also be shown. In addition, the whole situation surrounding the farmers naturally makes it extra nice to be on it.”

Farming runs in the family. The Boerinnen Kalender has hung in the family’s stable for years. Boerland’s sister, Roos, previously featured on the calendar and earned the title of Miss Boerin. “Therefore it is extra nice to now also be on it and actually follow in her footsteps,” Boerland said.

Leonie advances to final candidates for calendar spots

Leonie, another participant featured in the reporting, advanced through a pool of 400 applicants down to the final 13 candidates. Twelve models secure a spot for specific months, while one claims the front cover.

Participants do not choose their assigned months. During the recent presentation, models learned their publication dates. Leonie expressed a preference for May prior to the reveal, noting family birthdays and Mother’s Day fall during that month. “I’d rather have the month of May than the front cover,” Leonie told rtvdrenthe.nl. “True, everyone sees you lying there in the store, but everyone turns the cover as quickly as possible.”
