Drunk Driver in Sentence Enhancer Waste Truck Fatality
A 41-year-old woman from Nijmegen was behind the wheel of a refuse truck involved in a fatal collision in Sint Anthonis, Brabant, which claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl. The driver tested positive for amphetamines after the incident, and was later found to be on probation for previous traffic offenses.
The girl was struck and killed at around 8:00 AM on December 19th on the Stevensbeekseweg. Tragically, the female driver continued operating the waste truck after the deadly collision. When she returned to the scene, authorities apprehended her.
Prosecutors have extended the woman’s preventive detention by 30 days. A decision on whether she remains in custody will be made on January 29th.
