Ukraine’s long-range, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have significantly extended their reach, according to a spokesperson from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR). These advanced drones can now travel over 2,000 kilometers (around 1,240 miles) to reach their targets, as stated by Andrey Yusik on the channel "Novyny.LIVE".

This vast increase in range provides Ukraine with a formidable new capability in its ongoing conflict. While Kyiv doesn’t typically confirm or deny responsibility for strikes on Russian soil, GUR has maintained that all such attacks are meticulously targeted at military objectives or infrastructure related to Russia’s armed forces.

Notable instances of Ukraine’s UAV usage against targets deep within Russia include:

  • In November 2024, a strike was carried out on military facilities in the city of Caspian, located in the Dagestan region of Russia, approximately 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) from the Ukrainian border.
  • Earlier, in May, another attack was launched on the "Vоронеж-M" early warning radar station in Orsk, Orenburg Oblast. This drone traversed an impressive 1,800 kilometers (1,118 miles) to reach its destination.

The increased range of these drones demonstrates a significant advancement in Ukraine’s military capabilities, potentially reshaping the dynamics of the conflict and drawing greater attention to the precise targeting of Russian military assets.
