Police in Norway’s westernmost city, Florø, were involved in a high-speed chase after a rider on an electric unicycle. The operator was clocked traveling at nearly three times the legally allowed speed on Monday night.

"We initially attempted to pull over the individual due to the suspected high speed," said the operations leader for the police in the region. "However, when we activated our lights, the speed of the unicycle only increased. The pursuit lasted only a brief moment before being called off due to the potential for severe injuries."

The operator was clocked at nearly 75 km/h (approximately 47 mph), three times the limit set for e-scooters by Statens vegvesen, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Modifications to e-scooters allowing for such speeds and potential alcohol consumption are among the suspected reasons behind the chase.

"Snow and ice on the roads made conditions difficult, yet the rider continued at an alarming pace," said the operations leader. The unicycle operator ultimately evaded authorities, leaving them to attend another emergency involving underage individuals. No injuries were reported during the incident.
