A magnitude 2.8 earthquake has struck in the vicinity of Momin Prohod town today at 19:35 local time, the National Seismological Centre at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAN) has confirmed.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 25 kilometers south of the town of Samokov and around 65 kilometers southeast of the capital, Sofia. The tremor reached a depth of 12 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.
While there have been no immediate reports of injuries or damage, the earthquake served as a reminder of the region’s seismological activity.
