Emma Stone Pops Into Druski’s SNL Monologue

Comedian and internet creator Druski hosted Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7, becoming the first digital content creator to host the NBC sketch show, with The Strokes returning as musical guest for a fifth performance and Emma Stone popping into his opening monologue.

The episode — the fifth of Season 52 — aired live on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET and 8:30 p.m. PT on Nov. 7 and streams on Peacock beginning Sunday, Aol and USA Today reported. Viewers in some time zones may have experienced delays due to college football programming.

The road to Studio 8H

Druski is the first exclusively digital creator — without the crossover success of predecessors like Issa Rae or Quinta Brinson — to serve as the show’s master of ceremonies.

His rise has been fueled by extreme makeup transformations, including cosplaying as a white man for a NASCAR-themed skit and satirizing how conservative women behave in public, which have captured the attention of millions, including politicians. On Monday, it was announced that he signed a multi-year deal with Netflix, which will first see him star in the semi-scripted comedy series Collect & Praise; a scripted series based on his parody Mega Church Pastors LOVE Money premieres Dec. 1 on the platform, USA Today and LateNighter reported. He flagged the hosting milestone in an Oct. 22 post: GET YA POPCORN READY.

Season 52 context

The Nov. 7 broadcast marked the fifth episode of Season 52, following installments hosted by Jalen Brunson, Dakota Johnson, Shane Gillis and Inde Navarrette. The previous week’s Halloween episode had featured Tom Hanks reprising his David S. Pumpkins character and Bobby Moynihan returning as Drunk Uncle. The season’s cast includes veterans Kenan Thompson and Michael Che alongside newer faces such as Tommy Brennan, Ashley Padilla, Jeremy Culhane and Jane Wickline; after the cast grew by five members last season, Season 52 features only two new hires. The night also coincided with NBC’s centennial celebration, marking 100 years since the network’s first broadcast on Nov. 15, 1926.

Emma Stone crashes the monologue

Druski opened his first-ever monologue by acknowledging the milestone: It is a dream to be hosting Saturday Night Live, he said. Apparently, people are saying I’m the first internet-content-creator-social-media-influencer-only-make-you-laugh-on-your-phone-TikTok-and-YouTube-and-Instagram star to host this show. People say a lot of things about me, honestly. Some people say I look like a lesbian. I don’t know how true that is. Some people say I’m on Ozempic — could be lies, could be truth to that. Could be a little truth. Some people say they only know me as a white woman.

He assured the audience he wouldn’t be watered down by the show, though he admitted producers gave him rules including no cussing and no whiteface, to which he quipped, I can’t promise that. It is an honor to be on the same stage as so many legends before me, he added. And I am living proof that you can bet on yourself and make your dreams come true. I just finished filming my first ever movie with Emma Stone, and she is here right now!

The two-time Oscar-winning actress then walked onstage as Druski’s co-star in the upcoming Universal Pictures rom-com The Catch, directed by Stone’s husband Dave McCary, a former SNL segment director. Druski joked, I’m actually playing her love interest in the new movie we just did, prompting Stone to stammer, Oh, that… I’m sorry. OK, before explaining, I think you might have misread that in those scenes because we weren’t love interests in the film, but now it is starting to make more sense to me why you were looking at me like that through all those scenes. Druski added, Also, Emma: I loved you in ‘Bugonia’ as well, to which she replied, Oh my god, really? He clarified, No. I just wanted to be the first Black guy to say it.

The episode also poked fun at the HBO docuseries about Theranos, with Druski in prosthetics stepping into the role of the disgraced CEO Elizabeth Holmes after quipping, I just need to find somebody who can truly embody her character, and opened with a cold open on the 2026 midterm elections.

The Strokes’ fifth turn

Episodes stream the day after airing on Peacock, which offers a Premium Plan for $12.99 per month or a Premium Plus Plan for $19.99 per month, with annual options available at $129.99 or $199.99 per year; all 52 seasons of the series are available exclusively on the platform.
