German tuning studio Brabus presented its latest project – a hatchback Brabus Ultimate E.
Workshop “Brabus”, known for its versions of models Mercedes-Benz of different classes, mainly Gelendvagen and S-Class, shared her project “Ultimate E” – a hot hatch based on the Smart EQ Fortwo electric car, which also became a convertible.
The vision of the Brabus city car differs from the original in a designer body kit, 18-inch alloy wheels, forced electric motors, a new interior design and a considerable price.
What cannot be denied is the contribution of the Brabus designers to the project. The city car, the goal of which does not stand out in terms of traffic dynamics or appearance, is now seriously modernized. The front bumper was replaced by an air intake, body kits also appeared on the defects and the rear bumper, the suspension elements are painted white and blue.
The interior has also changed: the thresholds are greeted by the driver, the mode lever is stylized, the interior is lined with leather. At the same time, the version presented by Brabus is just a demonstration, since the buyer is free to customize cars for himself.
Previously, the studio calmly coped with speeding up cars, moreover, the Ultimate E concept promised that the machine would accelerate “up to a hundred” in 4.5 seconds, but in reality everything turned out differently. 92-horsepower electric motor overtakes the original in power by only 11 hp and 20 Nm. It turned out to accelerate the engine only due to the fact that the city car lost 25 kilometers of power reserve up to 125 km.
At the same time, it’s funny that a car with a starting price of 61 thousand euros shows worse dynamics than LADA Vesta Sport. It takes 12 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h from a city car, moreover, a car cannot accelerate faster than 130 km / h. The same “Vesta”, with all its shortcomings, accelerates “to a hundred” in 9.6 seconds, and the ceiling of its speed is 193 km / h.
It is clear that the Brabus Ultimate E performs not so much the function of a car as a show on four wheels, however, given the cost and exclusivity of a city car, it is strange that the driving characteristics that it endowed make the car uncomfortable in operation.
