Expanding IPEA: The Azimis’ Retail Empire Grows Across Belgium and the Netherlands

Belgium-Based Retailer IPEA Expands Ambitiously: ‘An Empire!’

Roosendaal, Belgian retail giant IPEA has announced ambitious expansion plans, with new stores slated to open in cities like Brugge and Kortrijk. The family-owned chain, known for its low prices and extensive product range, aims to consolidate its status as ‘an empire’ in the region.

IPEA, established by the Azimi family in 1999, currently operates 19 stores across Belgium and the Netherlands. The recent acquisition of two stores in Arnhem and Tilburg, along with plans to open seven new outlets this year, underscores the company’s aggressive growth strategy.

Speaking to the Provincial Zeeuws Courant, Antoine Azimi, son of IPEA’s founder and now at the helm of the company, revealed the family’s expansive vision. "We want to become the go-to place for everyone seeking affordable, high-quality products," he said.

The new stores, set to open in trendy shopping districts of Brugge and Kortrijk, will embody IPEA’s unique concept: a large ‘koopjeswinkel’ (bargain store) offering a vast array of products, from clothing and household items to electronics, toys, and food.

IPEA’s success lies in its competitive pricing and wide appeal, attracting both bargain hunters and everyday shoppers. The chain’s ability to maintain low prices while offering top brands has proven a winning formula, with loyal customers returning for more.

With this significant expansion, IPEA is set to further cement its reputation as a force in Belgian retail, solidifying its status as an ’empire’ in the sector.
