Suspicious Object Found: Police Investigate, Secure Scene
Police in the Sør-Øst district have cordoned off an area after discovering a suspicious object outside an empty building. While there’s no immediate threat to the surroundings, authorities are taking necessary precautions to ensure public safety.
The object, which could potentially be explosive, was discovered and reported to the police. In response, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has been dispatched to examine the item and determine the appropriate course of action.
"We send all suspicious objects to EOD to assess if they pose a threat or not," a police spokesperson told Nettavisen. While the object might contain explosives, there’s currently no indication of a terror-related threat.
The area around the discovery is secured, and police have advised residents to avoid the vicinity until further notice. It may take some time before the scene is declared safe, as thorough investigations are underway.
Police have begun their inquiries by collecting images of the object and sending them to experts for analysis. The results of these investigations will dictate the next steps in handling the situation.
