Fabiola Yañez Emerges in Madrid for New Year’s Eve Celebration
Former First Lady Fabiola Yañez resurfaced in Madrid on New Year’s Eve, marking the occasion at a Mexican restaurant where she was captured on video. The footage, which circulated on social media, shows Yañez seated at a table with a man, set against the backdrop of lively tropical music at the eatery "La Única."
Yañez, who has been residing in Spain since the end of her partner Alberto Fernández’s presidency, maintains state-provided security in Madrid. In August, two new police officers were deployed to her security detail, at a monthly cost of $36,000, as reported by La Nación. This reinforcement was ordered by the justice system and also reflects a personnel change, as Yañez opted for new security personnel following her separation from Fernández.
Sources from the government of President Javier Milei confirmed to La Nación that Yañez’s security detail remains active, consisting of at least two police officers who rotate shifts for constant protection. The state covers the officers’ accommodation, meals, and all other expenses incurred during their stay in Madrid.
Yañez’s return to the public eye comes amidst an ongoing legal process. She has accused Fernández of domestic violence, with Judge Julián Ercolini scheduling Fernández’s indagatory hearing for February 4.
