Fatal Accident in Vinnytsia Region Claims Lives of Military Academy Cadet and Law Student

Tragic Rhapsody on Rondo: Four Lives Lost in Vinnytsia on Christmas

In an unthinkable turn of events, Christmas Day marked a somber occasion for Ukraine as a fatal car collision in the Vinnytsia region claimed four precious lives. Two cadets of the Odessa Military Academy and a law student from the Odessa Law Academy perished in the devastating crash near Gaisin town.

Scene of the Crime

The tragic incident unfolded on December 25, Christmas morning. A Geely and a Subaru car collided with such force that rescue services had to employ specialized equipment to extract the occupants of the Geely. The inferno-like impact resulted in the deaths of four individuals, with an additional two, including one of the Geely’s occupants and the Subaru driver, hospitalized with injuries.

Faces of Loss

among the fatalities were cadets Daniel Gramchuk and Ivan Tsevuh, and law student Kateryna Yasinska.

Daniel Gramchuk: A Boy, A Cadet, A Hero in the Making

Daniel Gramchuk, a 20-year-old from the village of Kobylynchi in Chernivtsi Oblast, was a shining star cut painfully short. Raised by his grandparents, Daniel was a pillar of his community, remembered fondly as a polite and well-mannered young man. After graduating from Buchachivka Gymnasium with a military specialization, Daniel enrolled in Odessa’s prestigious military academy. He was mere months away from earning his officer’s commission, a dream now shattered.

Daniel’s hometown of Sokirni announced that his funeral would be held on December 28.

Codoves of Courage: Ivan Tsevuh and Kateryna Yasinska

Also lost in the tragedy were Ivan Tsevuh and Kateryna Yasinska, residents of Hrymailiv village in Volyn’s Shatsk district. Ivan, a decorated war hero, was studying at the Odessa Military Academy, while Kateryna was following in her late mother’s footsteps at the Odessa Law Academy. Together, the couple had plans to build a future, a future cruelly denied.

Their home village paid tribute to the young lovebirds, their loss impacting the entire community. "Their hearts were pure and full of light," a close friend recalled.

Aftermath

The Winnytsia region’s police opened a criminal investigation, citing Article 286, Part 3 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code: "Violation of traffic safety rules, which resulted in the death of two or more persons". If prosecuted, the guilty party faces up to 10 years imprisonment.

As investigations continue, the Christmas charm of Gaisin hangs heavy with grief. Four families mourn, not just another Christmas, but the futures stolen by a moment lost on Christmas Day.
