Police: Initial Search for occupants suspended after SUV recovered from river
Local emergency services responded in force to extract a vehicle reportedly submerged in the local river early this morning.
According to an official statement released by the authorities, the car, a 4×4 Sport Utility Vehicle, was discovered partly submerged in a local river in an apparent submerging event. The circumstances surrounding the accident are still unclear.
The dispatch call was sent out at around 10:17 AM, bringing into action both air and surface emergency services such as helicopters used for air searches and multiple specialist rescue teams responding to the operation.
After searching the river meticulously, around 47 minutes later – at 10:49 AM, rescue teams made a breakthrough – managing to securely retrieve the motor vehicle from its watery entrapping. Divers also conducted dive operations to access any potential vehicles or objects further underwater.
Before the vehicle removal, at roughly 10:37 AM, distressed cries signalled the dramatic rescue of what appeared to be the sole motorist from their car. Sources reveal that on arrival at medical services, she was reported being awake but categorically described to be in severely critical condition; further updates as to her full condition remain scant.
Initially, fears pointed towards multiple occupied individuals within the vehicle, provoking an additional surge of specialized emergency teams’ attendance. Officials, thus far, find no substantial credible evidence to continue suspecting passengers within the river or vehicle aftermath.
