The victim, identified by the initials DR, was a 3rd semester student of the Sociology program, batch of 2023, hailing from Tulungagung.
The harrowing incident transpired around 5 PM local time, as reported by Lim Fahmi Ilman, Deputy Head of UNJEMB’s Public Relations Division, who confirmed the tragic event. Eye-witnesses, students partaking in evening sports activities, reportedly heard screams and discovered the lifeless body sprawled on the ground floor of the towering C-Rissh building. Swift action ensued, with campus security and personnel immediately rushing to the scene, contacting emergency services, and rushing the victim to Dr. Soebandi Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
The C-Rissh building, though deserted during the semester break, remains operational for research and academic pursuits by faculty members. While it is believed that the victim accessed the 8th floor via elevator, as the staircase access was locked post-work hours, the exact sequence of events leading to the tragic fall remains under investigation.
UNJEMB authorities,-being circumspect to engage in speculative discourse, are currently collaborating with local law enforcement to unravel the motive behind this apparent suicide.
