Fiji Airways recorded its strongest booking day in 75 years on Wednesday, securing more than 14,000 reservations and surpassing its previous daily record set in 2023, according to the national carrier. The milestone coincides with the airline’s 75th-anniversary global sale, highlighting sustained travel demand for the South Pacific destination.
Fiji Airways Record Booking Surge and Travel Demand
Travel demand to Fiji has accelerated alongside broader visitor arrival increases reported by national authorities. Figures from the Fiji Bureau of Statistics show that around 105,791 visitors arrived in July, marking the first time monthly arrivals have exceeded 100,000. Cumulative visitor numbers for the first seven months of the year rose 4.3 percent compared with the same period in 2025.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Scurrah stated that the sales milestone reflects Fiji’s standing as a highly sought-after destination. “Every booking is a traveller choosing Fiji, and that means more jobs, more opportunity and more growth for our country,” Scurrah said, noting that the surge occurred directly in the middle of the airline’s anniversary celebrations.
Pro Tip for Travelers
Premium and Group Travel Trends
Data released by the airline points to shifting consumer preferences across different ticket classes. Business class bookings increased by 17 percent compared with the same day last year. Meanwhile, group bookings nearly doubled year-on-year, signaling a broader rebound in both leisure group travel and corporate itineraries.
Network Expansion and New Routes
To accommodate rising passenger volumes, Fiji Airways is actively expanding its flight network across the region. The airline recently integrated the Gold Coast into its Australian schedule. Additionally, new direct services to Nouméa in New Caledonia are scheduled to launch later this month, improving regional connectivity.
These route additions support the carrier’s strategy to capture incoming tourist traffic from neighboring markets while strengthening economic ties across the Pacific.
