FC Volendam Mourns Passing of Devoted Club Employee and ‘Father Figure’
FC Volendam has announced the passing of one of its most dedicated employees, Jan Bont. The club and its staff are mourning the loss of a man, affectionately known as the "FC-er in hart en nieren," who was as integral to the club as its founding principles.
Jan’s contributions to FC Volendam were considerable and varied. From troubleshooting electrical issues, to ensuring the club was always in functioning order, Jan was a true lifeline. His commitment was unyielding; weekends, holidays, it didn’t matter. Jan was always there when FC Volendam needed him most.
Tragically, Jan’s final task at the club was a small electrical repair, completed just before the holidays. A job well done, but one that sadly proved to be his last. The club learned of his passing today, leaving everyone stunned and deeply saddened.
Jan was a family man, proud to be nearing grandfatherhood. At 66 years old, he looked forward to spending more quality time with his wife, two daughters, and soon-to-be grandchild. Unfortunately,(time stopped for Jan all too soon.
The club’s spokesperson shared, "Jan’s passing leaves a massive void. We’re overwhelmed by gratitude for all he did for FC Volendam. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family during this difficult time."
Jan may have been a behind-the-scenes figure, but his impact on FC Volendam was monumental. He was more than an employee; he was a father figure, a mentor, and a precious friend. His legacy lives on in the heart of every FC Volendam member.
