It’s sad for the kids,
an Okotoks resident told CityNews Calgary regarding the arrest of former junior hockey executive Tyler King. We trust these coaches and these organizations, but I am proud that the Oilers were the ones that brought it forward to the RCMP.
Tyler King, 39, was released on bail following a court appearance in Okotoks, Alta. King was arrested last week at a U.S. border crossing in Ontario by the RCMP and faces charges including luring, sexual exploitation, and making child pornography.
Bail Conditions and Court Appearance in Okotoks
Details of Friday’s bail hearing remain protected under a publication ban, but the presiding judge imposed conditions on King’s release. He is prohibited from contacting the three complainants and from being in the company of anyone under the age of 18. He must adhere to specific restrictions regarding social media use.

During his appearance, King wore handcuffs and was escorted into the courtroom by two officers. He spoke little, confirming only his identity and date of birth. Two hours after the proceeding concluded, he departed carrying a duffel bag while police drove him toward Calgary.
Investigation Timeline Involving Junior Hockey Teams
The RCMP launched their investigation in June 2024 after the Okotoks Oilers Hockey Association reported that a former employee had allegedly solicited and compensated underage players for intimate images and sexual videos. The complainants, who were all under 18 at the time of the alleged offenses, played junior A hockey in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
The alleged incidents took place between 2021 and 2024 while King served as assistant general manager in charge of non-hockey operations for the Oilers. The Nanaimo Clippers stated that King was hired as their vice-president of business operations in the summer of 2024 but left months later before the season started, with the club terminating his employment once they learned of the police probe.

King’s career also included work with junior organizations in Fort McMurray and Brooks in Alberta, as well as teams in Ontario and the British Columbia Hockey League. King worked as a video producer and public address announcer for the Belleville Senators, and most recently taught sports journalism at SUNY Oswego in New York state.
Next Court Date Scheduled for December
King is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 18 to face charges of luring, sexual exploitation, and making child pornography. Investigators have stated that they believe additional victims may exist across other hockey organizations and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact the RCMP.
