Four individuals suspected of involvement in a string of violent crimes were killed in a shootout with police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at Adam’s Mission, within the KwaMakhutha policing precinct, south of Durban.
Intelligence Led to Confrontation
According to KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the operation was intelligence-driven. Officers located a vehicle matching the description of one reportedly used by suspects to terrorise communities in Umbumbulu and surrounding areas. These suspects were allegedly responsible for armed robberies, house robberies, carjackings, and kidnappings.
The confrontation occurred as police attempted to intercept the suspects. A shootout ensued, resulting in fatal gunshot wounds for all four individuals inside the vehicle, Netshiunda stated.
Ongoing Manhunt
Authorities are currently conducting a manhunt for one suspect who managed to evade arrest during the shootout. No police officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire. The investigation remains ongoing, according to Colonel Netshiunda.

Brigadier Novela Potelwa reported that the victims, aged between 40 and 45, were shot in the mall’s parking lot at approximately 21:30. Two died inside a vehicle, and one outside.
