In a significant move promoting children’s health and nutrition, Depok, West Java, kicked off its Nutritious Meal Program (Program Makan Bergizi Gratis – MBG) today. The Indonesia’s National Nutritional Board (Badan Gizi Nasional – BGN) officially started its Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) operations, preparing 18,000 free nutritious meals for schoolchildren.
Menu and Distribution
The inaugural meals included rice, fried chicken, mixed vegetable stir-fry, and orange fruit. The distribution process, overseen by Dandim 0508/Depok Kolonel Inf Iman Widhiarto, was divided into two sessions: 2,000 meals served in the morning and 1,000 in the afternoon.
SPPG locations are strategically set up in six schools across Tapos District, aiming to reach 18,000 children in total.
Support and Response
Ujang Komarudin, Head of the Presidential Communications Office, personally inspected the facilities and praised the enthusiasm of the cooks and the public. He encouraged everyone to welcome the program, highlighting its potential to nurture intelligent, strong, and competitive Indonesian children.
