Breaking News: Explosion of Gas Cylinder in Lözencé, Sofia
A gas cylinder explosion has occurred in a house in the Lözencé quarter of Sofia. Emergency services received the signal around 7:00 PM this evening.
Firefighters from the 4th fire station promptly arrived at the scene. Tragically, a 66-year-old man sustained severe, deep, and extensive burns, including those to his upper respiratory tract. His condition is critical and does not yet permit surgery, according to the country’s largest medical center. It’s reported that interventions will commence once his condition stabilizes, likely in a few days.
Glass from a parked car outside the house was also shattered due to the explosion’s force.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence in Silistra last August, where an elderly woman suffered burns from a gas cylinder explosion. In that case, emergency services arrived within three minutes of receiving the signal at 6:40 PM.
Investigations into the cause of the explosion are ongoing. More details will be provided as they emerge.
