A Georgia teenager is facing a homicide charge following an incident Friday night in which a high school teacher was struck and killed by a vehicle after a prank. Jason Hughes, 40, died at a hospital after being hit, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Jayden Ryan Wallace, 18, has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering. Authorities allege Wallace was with four other individuals when they covered trees outside Hughes’s residence with toilet paper. Hughes, a math teacher at North Hall High School, came outside as the group prepared to leave in two vehicles.
The sheriff’s office stated that as Wallace drove away in a pickup truck, Hughes tripped and fell into the road, and was subsequently struck by the vehicle. The teens reportedly stopped and attempted to help Hughes before deputies arrived at 11:40 p.m.
