Battlefield 6 Marks Anniversary With Massive Content Expansion
Battlefield 6 celebrates its one-year anniversary on October 13 with the launch of Season 5: “Siege of Vegas.” Update 2.1.1.0 arrives as the largest content expansion since the game’s debut, introducing a high-stakes Ranked Battle Royale mode in REDSEC and a suite of technical overhauls designed to tighten vehicle combat balance.
The update lands for all players on October 13, with downloads beginning at 08:00 UTC and live content access following at 12:00 UTC. To facilitate the transition, the existing Gauntlet mode will be removed from rotation as the new season commences.
The Vegas Strip and Area 51 Enter the Rotation
The season unfolds in three distinct chapters. Following the October 13 launch, the roadmap continues with “Casino Heist” on November 10, concluding with the “Frozen Aces” event on December 8.
The initial launch debuts two primary maps. The Vegas Strip offers infantry-focused combat through hotel interiors, casinos, and subterranean storm drains, while Area 51 provides a stark, expansive desert environment tailored for large-scale vehicle warfare. Players can also expect a limited-time Dead Space crossover event throughout the season.
New Hardware and Combat Balancing
Four new weapons join the arsenal to diversify tactical options. The MK24 Assault Rifle is optimized for long-range precision, though burdened by a limited magazine. Conversely, the Z84M Light Machine Gun utilizes a 100-round belt-fed system intended for close-quarters suppression. The lineup is rounded out by the RSPR Personal Defence Weapon and the ELR-40 Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle.

Vehicle combat faces significant adjustments in this patch. Passive health regeneration for Main Battle Tanks and Infantry Fighting Vehicles is now tethered to weapon usage; crews must cease fire for 12 seconds before recovery begins, with total restoration time for tanks extended to 8 seconds. Furthermore, 70mm FFAR light rockets have been nerfed, suffering a 30% reduction in area-of-effect damage, while their resupply time has climbed from 28 to 38 seconds.
Incentives for EA Play and New Recruits
EA Play members receive priority access to the season, including the EA Play Deployment Pack and the Season 5 EA Play Pack. Subscribers can access the game via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox PC Game Pass, or Xbox Cloud Gaming. These members also retain a 10% discount on digital purchases, such as the Battlefield Pro and Ultimate Shortcut kits. The deadline to claim the Season 5 pack is January 18.

For those yet to enlist, a free trial window opens on PlayStation and Steam platforms from October 15 through October 19, offering a limited opportunity to experience the Season 5 changes firsthand.
