Google reportedly exploring snooze feature for Pixel Watch’s bedtime mode

Google is exploring a “snooze” feature for the Pixel Watch’s bedtime mode, according to a report from Android Authority. The potential update would allow users to delay the transition to bedtime settings, enabling the smartwatch to remain active and responsive to notifications for a longer period. The feature was identified through text strings discovered in the Pixel Watch Management Service app, which include phrases like “Bedtime at %1$s Delay until I fall asleep” and “Bedtime Delay bedtime?”

The current bedtime mode on Pixel Watch syncs with the user’s phone to automatically engage at designated times. However, the proposed snooze option could offer greater flexibility by extending the active period, potentially using device sensors to detect when a user has fallen asleep. Android Authority noted that the feature is not yet available and may not reach a public release, as the findings come from an APK teardown that analyzes work-in-progress code.

Feature Details Revealed in Code

The potential snooze functionality was uncovered in recent updates to the Pixel Watch Management Service app. Developers identified text strings suggesting a “delay until I fall asleep” option, which could allow the watch to stay active beyond scheduled bedtime hours. The report emphasizes that no official confirmation has been provided by Google, and the feature remains in the early stages of development.

Two Toggles Control Bedtime Mode Synchronization

Pixel Watch users currently rely on two toggles to set bedtime mode: one for the start time and one for the end time, both synchronized with the user’s phone. The new feature, if implemented, would address scenarios where users need to stay awake past their scheduled bedtime. However, as of now, the snooze option has not been tested publicly, and its availability remains uncertain.
