The Green Bay Packers conducted their annual Family Night practice at Lambeau Field on Friday, drawing 57,411 fans. The event, presented by UW Health Kids, offered a game-like atmosphere that included music, concessions, giveaways, and fireworks. While the team officially lists 91 players on the roster, the Packers practiced with 76 total participants during the event, as 15 players were held out due to injury or recovery protocols.

The workout, which lasted over two hours on a humid summer night, served as the longest practice of training camp to date. Head coach Matt LaFleur acknowledged that the extended duration and conditions led to some choppy and uneven play. Yeah, I thought it was definitely sloppy,
LaFleur said. It was our biggest workload we've had yet to date. So, I think it was really good for those guys to have to fight through fatigue. We'll look at it.
For the first time in LaFleur’s tenure, an NFL officiating crew led by referee Shawn Hochuli was on hand to monitor the action. The officials flagged several instances of contact in the defensive backfield during 11-on-11 and one-on-one periods, while the offense was penalized for holding. LaFleur noted the utility of the officiating, stating, You'd love to have those guys every day out at practice because I think some of this stuff can be avoidable. But it's a lot of good stuff for our guys to look at and learn from and to teach off of.
The practice also marked the first time the team engaged in live tackling this summer, with younger players and newcomers participating in approximately 10 plays of live work late in the session. LaFleur described this as a “rehearsal” ahead of the first preseason game.

Despite the challenges, the first-team offense produced highlights. Quarterback Jordan Love connected with wide receiver Matthew Golden for a 52-yard touchdown pass as Golden peeled away from safety Javon Bullard at the goal line. I feel like the chemistry between us is growing for sure,
Golden said, crediting Love with a “great ball.” Golden’s performance continued a strong training camp, which included successful reps against cornerback Keisean Nixon.
Rookie kicker Trey Smack provided a positive development on special teams, converting six of seven field goal attempts. Smack, who had made only 8-of-13 kicks in the previous seven practices, successfully hit from 33, 35, 38, 43, 45, and 47 yards, missing only from 51. Definitely built a little bit of confidence up tonight,
Smack said. General manager Brian Gutekunst noted that while Smack has had a good start, consistency remains the expectation as the team prepares for the season.

The injury report remained a focal point, with 15 players sidelined. The list of non-participants included running back Josh Jacobs (groin), tight end Tucker Kraft (recovering from ACL), defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (recovering from offseason ankle surgery), and offensive lineman Zach Bako-Bewele (recovering from offseason knee surgery). Others held out included Micah Parsons (PUP list, ACL recovery), Luke Musgrave (PUP list, neck injury), Javon Hargrave (PUP list, knee injury), Jordon Riley (PUP list, Achilles injury), Matt Orzech (PUP list, calf injury), Aaron Banks (managing knee injury), Johnathan Baldwin (knee injury), Carrington Valentine (hamstring injury), Chris Brooks (NFI list, hamstring injury), and Domani Jackson and Kamal Hadden (undisclosed injuries).
The event also showcased rookies like cornerback Brandon Cisse, who has been working with the starting group due to Carrington Valentine’s hamstring injury. Wide receiver Christian Watson praised Cisse’s demeanor, noting, He doesn't look like he's panicking when he's going up against the first group.
Packers Family Night brings a full day of fun to Lambeau Field
The festivities extended beyond the stadium, as the team hosted Family Fest at Titletown prior to the practice, featuring games, food trucks, and entertainment. As the team moves forward, the coaching staff plans to utilize the film from the Family Night scrimmage to continue teaching through the identified errors and fatigue-related lapses.
