Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced plans to evaluate the timings of the Car Free Day (CFD) event in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, Jakarta Selatan. The CFD in Rasuna Said could potentially end earlier than scheduled, following feedback from nearby places of worship.
Pramono noted that public enthusiasm for the CFD in Rasuna Said is high, but the provincial government is also considering the activities of residents who observe religious rituals in the mornings. He stated, “When we inaugurated the event and also launched the waste segregation initiative in Rasuna Said, the public response was incredible.”
However, Pramono acknowledged receiving requests from several places of worship in the Rasuna Said area, as religious activities typically begin in the morning. He said, “we have received requests, especially from places of worship in the Rasuna Said area. Their religious activities usually start at 10:00 WIB. We have decided to start the CFD in Rasuna Said at 05:30, but it will certainly end earlier than that.”
Pramono also mentioned that the CFD scheme in Rasuna Said will differ from that in the Sudirman-Thamrin area. While the CFD in Sudirman-Thamrin is planned to start earlier at 05:30 WIB, the ending time is still under review.
“For Sudirman-Thamrin, we will start at 05:30, but we will decide whether it ends at 10:00 or 09:30 before June 1,” Pramono clarified.
The governor emphasized that the decision regarding the operational hours of the CFD in Rasuna Said will take into account public feedback, especially to avoid disrupting religious activities.
“Especially for Rasuna Said, we will definitely consider the suggestions from those who will be observing religious rituals that day. It will certainly be different from Sudirman-Thamrin,” Pramono added.
