Gudkov Warns of Dangerous ‘Jungle Law’ Scenario in Ukraine War’s Endgame

Title: " Turning Point: Could Putin Still Win the Ukraine War, Says Dmitry Gudkov?"

In an unexpected turn of events, the consensus on President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine is shifting. While it’s widely acknowledged that he has faced significant setbacks, a possibility emerge that Putin could still emerge victorious. This perspective is presented by Russian opposition politician and public figure, Dmitry Gudkov, in an interview with Anastasia Fedora on the YouTube channel "Fabrika Novostey".

"In a way, Putin has already lost," insists Gudkov. "Russia is isolated, its economy is gradually militarizing, and vast sums are being spent on weapons. In the long run, this will lead to severe economic problems in Russia."

However, Gudkov poses an intriguing question: "But has he lost on the battlefield?" As the war remains largely stagnant, with neither side making significant breakthroughs, a shift in global power dynamics could change the trajectory of the conflict.

Gudkov posits a scenario where former U.S. President Donald Trump, long seen as sympathetic to Putin, exerts pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to capitulate. "If Trump were to demand that Zelensky surrender to Putin, that would be a victory for Putin, not just in Ukraine, but also against the West," he suggests.

Such a turn would not only signal a triumph for Putin on the Ukrainian front but also signify a weakening of the Western alliance, potentially emboldening other aggressive dictators worldwide. Gudkov warns, "If brute force becomes the main factor in international relations, we’re in for a world ruled by jungle laws, and that’s not a promising prospect."

While this scenario appears unlikely given the current geopolitical climate, Gudkov’s perspective serves as a crucial reminder that nothing is set in stone in the complex dance of global politics. As the war in Ukraine continues, the world watches, waiting for the next move in this high-stakes chess game.
