The House of Representatives (DPR) has set the cost of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage (BPIH) at Rp 89.410.258,79, with 62% to be borne by the pilgrims and 38% by the government. The announcement was made by Abdul Wachid, the chairman of the BPIH Working Committee of the House of Representatives’ Commission VIII, at a meeting with the Ministry of Religious Affairs at the Parliament Building in Jakarta.

The BPIH cost for this year has decreased by Rp 4.000.027,21 compared to last year. In 2024, the BPIH was Rp 93.410.286. The cost-sharing scheme has also changed from last year. This year, pilgrims will bear 62% of the cost, while the government will cover 38%. Last year, pilgrims covered 60% and the government 40%.

Pilgrims will each bear Rp 55.431.750,78 for their journey, covering flights, accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, and living expenses. This is Rp 614.420,82 less than last year, when the Bipih was Rp 56.046.171,60. Meanwhile, the government’s contribution to this year’s BPIH is Rp 6.831.820.756.658,34, down by Rp 1.368.219.881.908,86 from last year’s total.

Pilgrims can pay their Bipih in installments until the deadline, after deducting the initial deposit and their virtual account balance. The House’s set BPIH and Bipih are lower than the government’s initial proposals. The Ministry of Religion had suggested a BPIH of Rp 89.666.469,26, with pilgrims bearing 62% and the government 38%.
