Meta is rolling out a new scheduling feature for WhatsApp calls and messages, allowing users to plan communications up to two weeks in advance. The updates are currently being tested across iOS and Android devices, introducing automated tools that function even when devices are offline.
WhatsApp Introduces Call Scheduling on Mobile
WhatsApp users can now schedule phone and video calls ahead of time through a new feature developed by Meta, detikInet reported on October 30, 2026. The tool, called Schedule Call, lets participants manage upcoming calls directly from the app’s Calls tab.
Users can set up a scheduled call by tapping the plus icon in the Calls tab and selecting the Schedule option. The configuration menu allows organizers to assign a call name, write a description, choose a cover picture, set start and end times, select between voice or video formats, and configure reminders.
Once scheduled, the app generates participant lists and call links that can be shared or added to personal calendars. Invited contacts receive automated notifications when the call is about to begin.
iOS Beta Testing Expands to Offline Messaging
Beyond voice and video calls, WhatsApp is expanding its testing of scheduled text, photo, video, and link messages to iOS devices. Kompas reported that the feature is currently available to beta testers on iOS version 26.42.10.19 via TestFlight following an initial Android rollout in early October 2026.

The messaging feature allows users to compose content and hold down the send button to access date and time selection menus. Selular.id noted that messages can be scheduled from ten minutes up to two weeks ahead of the intended delivery time.
A key technical capability of the scheduled messaging system is offline delivery. VIVA.co.id reported that pre-written messages will still transmit automatically at the designated hour even if the sender’s device is offline or lacks an active internet connection when the time arrives.
Keep encrypted group messages hidden from late arrivals
All scheduled messages remain protected by end-to-end encryption, maintaining the platform’s standard privacy framework. According to Selular.id, confirmation details and pending schedules remain visible solely to the sender within individual chat info screens, ensuring recipients receive no prior alerts.
Group chats operate under specific inclusion rules. Kompas noted that scheduled messages in group conversations will only reach members who belonged to the group at the precise moment the message was scheduled. Accounts joining the group after the scheduling phase will not receive or view the pending content.
Users retain full control over their pending queues. Harian Disway reported that participants can delete or modify scheduled messages at any point prior to the automated dispatch time without notifying other group members.
