Changes to the Hoy No Circula Program in 2025: What You Need to Know About Hologramas 1 and 2

Article:

Are you a frequent driver in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area? If so, you should stay updated on the changes to the Hoy No Circula program, especially if your vehicle has hologramas 1 or 2. While there are no official announcements of new restrictions for these hologram categories yet, it’s essential to stay informed about the current rules and any potential updates.

What is Hoy No Circula?

Introduced to control and minimize gas emissions, the Hoy No Circula program limits vehicle circulation based on the last digit of their license plate and sticker color. It applies in the 18 municipalities of the State of Mexico and the 16 boroughs of Mexico City, from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

How does Hoy No Circula work?

Here are the current circulation restrictions for vehicles with hologramas 1 and 2:

  • Monday: Hologram 1 and 2, yellow sticker, plates ending in 5 or 6
  • Tuesday: Hologram 1 and 2, pink sticker, plates ending in 7 or 8
  • Wednesday: Hologram 1 and 2, red sticker, plates ending in 3 or 4
  • Thursday: Hologram 1 and 2, green sticker, plates ending in 1 or 2
  • Friday: Hologram 1 and 2, blue sticker, plates ending in 9 or 0
  • First and third Saturday (holograma 1 only): Vehicles with holograma 1 and odd-numbered plate endings
  • Second and fourth Saturday (holograma 1 only): Vehicles with holograma 1 and even-numbered plate endings
  • Every Saturday (holograma 2): No circulation

Hologramas 1 and 2: Restrictions in 2025

For now, the restrictions for hologramas 1 and 2 will remain the same in 2025. Vehicle owners with these hologram categories should continue to follow the weekly restrictions based on their plate ending and sticker color. Additionally, holograma 1 vehicles are prohibited from circulating on two Saturdays per month, while holograma 2 vehicles cannot circulate on any Saturdays.

To improve your vehicle’s holograma and enjoy more circulation freedom, make sure to keep your car well-maintained and up-to-date with required inspections.
