A final message shared on LinkedIn by a Singaporean human resources manager has resonated with thousands online, following her passing after a long battle with cancer.

Ms Grace Seah Zong Ling, 41, passed away on Thursday, May 7. According to her professional profile, she served as an assistant HR manager with the cosmetics company Estée Lauder.

A Journey of Courage and Resilience

In a poignant final post, Ms Seah revealed that her diagnosis came in 2018. While she noted that she enjoyed “many good years” following the diagnosis, the cancer became untreatable around November of last year.

Beyond her health struggles, Ms Seah disclosed that she had also navigated a divorce during this period. Despite these trials, she expressed deep gratitude for the support of her family and friends, stating, “Thank you for your friendship, love, and kindness — I feel incredibly blessed to have had you in my life.”

A Legacy of Love and Presence

Ms Seah used her final words to frame her passing not as a time of solely mourning, but as an opportunity for others to connect. She expressed her hope that her funeral would become “a time of reconnection, with more flowing conversations than tears” and serve as “a reminder to live fully in the present.”

She shared her belief that while death ends life, it does not end love or relationships, urging those who miss her to remember the “silly things I said or did, the moments we shared.”

In a heartbreaking request, Ms Seah asked her loved ones to help guide her daughter, Kara, as she grows. She urged them to teach Kara to be kind to herself and others, and to remind her that she is loved by many, including her mother, who loves her “so, so much.”

Public Impact and Reflection

The post has struck a chord with the public, garnering more than 1,100 reactions. Many netizens, including those who did not know Ms Seah personally, described the experience of reading a post written by someone about their own passing as “surreal.”

Commenters praised Ms Seah for her grace and courage, noting that her focus on others even in her final days prompted them to reflect on their own lives and the importance of living their limited time to the fullest.

Final Arrangements

Ms Seah’s wake is being held in Toa Payoh. A subsequent update on Friday, May 8, indicated that she would be cremated following a service at Mandai Crematorium on the afternoon of Saturday, May 9.

Given the widespread emotional response to her message, the gathering may serve as the catalyst for the reconnection Ms Seah envisioned, potentially encouraging attendees and readers alike to prioritize their relationships and presence in the moment.
