Humberto Zerón Martínez: Sinaloa‘s New Subsecretary of Public Security

Culiacán, Sinaloa – Humberto Zerón Martínez has just been appointed as the new Subsecretary of Public Security, Prevention, and Social Reintegration in Sinaloa. Zerón Martínez, a brigadier general of the Mexican Army‘s General Staff, brings an impressive career in national security to his new role.

In October 2023, he served as the Chief of Staff of the 30th Military Zone in Villahermosa, Tabasco, leading security operations and fostering citizen participation in the fight against organized crime. Holding a Master’s in Public Administration and a Master’s in National Security, along with numerous related certifications, Zerón Martínez’s extensive academic background in addition to his military experience makes him a strong fit for his new post.

Previously, Zerón Martínez served as the Subsecretary of Security and Civil Protection in Chiapas, coordinating special security operations in the state, succeeding Francisco Javier Orantes Abadía. His tenure in Tabasco saw the successful dismantling of a network of illicitly installed CCTV cameras used by criminals in Villahermosa.

In his new role, Zerón Martínez will replace Pedro Leoncio García Alatorre, appointed amidst a series of organizational changes aimed at bolstering public security strategies in the state. With a distinguished track record in military and academic sectors of national security, Zerón Martínez is well-prepared to tackle security challenges in Sinaloa.
