The Israel Defense Forces continued counterterrorism operations across the Gaza Strip on Monday, carrying out five targeted strikes that killed at least four terrorists serving in command and force-building positions. The military actions involved intelligence coordination between the Shin Bet and the Military Intelligence Directorate, according to a military source.
Targeted Strikes Eliminate Hamas Commanders and Force-Building Officials
Operations throughout the day focused heavily on dismantling Hamas’s military structure and leadership. An overnight strike killed a top commander from Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade, a unit within the al-qassam Brigades. According to an N12 report, the targeted commander was named Ahmed al-Batech Abu Osama, and he was killed in a strike on his vehicle. Another terrorist was located hiding inside a tent in Khan Yunis, where the southern half remains under IDF control. Security forces have intensified these operations in recent weeks, specifically targeting officials involved in rebuilding the terror group and restoring its military capabilities.
Intelligence-Led Operations Span Deir al-Balah, Daraj al-Tuffah, and Gaza City
Monday’s strikes spanned multiple locations across the Gaza Strip, directed by intelligence provided by the Shin Bet and the Military Intelligence Directorate. Alongside the operations in Khan Yunis and the strike on Ahmed al-Batech Abu Osama’s vehicle, the IDF and Shin Bet struck targets in Deir al-Balah, Daraj al-Tuffah, and Gaza City near Shifa Hospital. Last week, the IDF carried out an operation on a weapons storage facility in the same area near Shifa Hospital. These missions form part of a broader campaign by security forces to degrade Hamas’s operational network.
Weapons Infrastructure and October 7 Investigation Focus
Beyond individual commanders, security forces are heavily focused on damaging Hamas’s ability to acquire and produce weapons. The Air Force has struck around 20 of the terror group’s weapons storage facilities over the past two weeks, alongside workshops and laboratories used for weapon production. Meanwhile, the Shin Bet’s Nili unit, established in 2023 specifically to track and eliminate Hamas members who participated in the October 7 Massacre, continues its work locating responsible terrorists.
