IMPE Continues Vaccination Campaign Against Pneumococcal and Influenza
The Institute of Public Health and Epidemiology (IMPE) has extended its vaccination drive against pneumococcal and influenza infections, with the campaign now open from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM and 2:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays. The initiative aims to protect the vulnerable population and prevent the spread of diseases.
Eligibility and Details
- Pneumococcal Vaccine: Persons aged 60 years and above can get vaccinated with the first dose. For eligible individuals aged 65 and above, a second booster dose is also available.
- Influenza Vaccine: Children aged 6 months and above can benefit from this vaccine.
Addressing Concerns and Ensuring Safety
Ana Payán, head of IMPE’s vaccination department, stressed the importance of receiving these vaccines. She addressed concerns regarding the safety and side effects. "There’s a lot of misinformation about the reactions caused by these vaccines," Payán stated. "But remember, prevention is better than cure."
