Headline: KPK Imposes Travel Ban on PDIP‘s Hasto Kristiyanto and Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly in DPR Bribery Scandal
Article:
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has imposed a travel ban on Hasto Kristiyanto (HK) and Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly (YHL) in relation to a graft case involving the selection of DPR members for the 2019-2024 period. The travel ban, which took effect on December 24, 2024, will last for six months, as confirmed by KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto.
HK, the Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), and YHL, a former Minister of Law and Human Rights, are currently needed in Indonesia for the ongoing investigation involving Harun Masiku. The travel ban was implemented through KPK’s Decree No. 1757/2024.
Prior to this, on December 23, 2024, KPK named Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah as suspects in a bribery case involving Komisioner Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan. Meanwhile, YHL was summoned for questioning at the KPK headquarters on December 18, 2024, regarding his involvement in the Harun Masiku case.
During his questioning, YHL, who was also the Chair of PDIP’s Central Leadership Board, explained his role and actions as the Minister of Law and Human Rights. However, it was revealed that YHL was misinformed by the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights about Harun Masiku’s entry into Indonesia from Singapore. Despite being in the country, Harun Masiku was believed to be staying at a luxury hotel in Central Jakarta, from where he was allegedly picked up by an associate of Hasto and instructed to dispose of his phone in a nearby river.
The whereabouts of Harun Masiku remain unknown since that incident.
