KPK Names PDIP Secretary General As corruption Suspect in PAW Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect in a bribery case involving the replacement of DPR RI members with KPU commissioners. This includes Harun Masiku.
KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated that Hasto Kristiyanto, along with Harun Masiku and others, is suspected of bribing Wahyu Setiawan, a KPU commissioner, to switch positions with an DPR RI member who had passed away. The case details are outlined in the search initial notice (Spring dik/153/DIK.00/01/12/2024) dated December 23, 2024.
Hasto Kristiyanto’s status as a suspect was announced during a press conference at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. The case was first exposed by KPK on Friday, December 20, 2024.
Hasto has been repeatedly questioned by KPK investigators since January 2020 and has also testified at the Jakarta Corruption Court. His last questioning session took place in June 2024.
Harun Masiku, a former PDIP legislative candidate, had been at large for five years. He is suspected of bribing Wahyu Setiawan to replace Nazarudin Kiemas who won a DPR seat but passed away. Harun allegedly prepared around IDR 850 million for this purpose.
Wahyu Setiawan was sentenced to seven years in prison, as per the Supreme Court’s decision (No. 1857/K/Pid.Sus/2021) and was transferred to the Kedungpane Correctional Facility in Semarang, Central Java, in June 2021. However, Wahyu was granted conditional release on October 6, 2023.
Two other individuals, Wahyu’s right-hand person Agustiani Tio Fridelina and Saeful Bahri, are also standing trial in this case.
Saeful Bahri was arrested and sent to the Sukamiskin Class IA Correctional Facility in Bandung, West Java, on July 2, 2020. He was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison and fined IDR 150 million, with the alternative of four months in jail.
Agustiani was sentenced to four years in prison and fined IDR 150 million, with the alternative of four months in jail.
